How to change your SASSA banking details

Step by step
- Open the official site: Go to srd.sassa.gov.za and choose the banking details section.
- Verify yourself: Enter your ID number and receive a secure link or OTP on your registered phone.
- Enter your account: Select your bank and enter your account number. The account must be in your name.
- Wait for verification: SASSA confirms the account with your bank before paying into it.
Banking detail scams
Fraudsters send fake links asking you to 'update' banking details so your grant goes to their account. Only use links typed directly into your browser, and never share the SMS link or OTP.
Can I use someone else's bank account?
No. The account must be registered in your own name.
How long does a change take?
Verification usually takes a few days; you may miss one payment cycle if you change just before payment.
