When does SASSA pay? Payment dates explained
Last updated 2026-10-01
QuickEasyLoans is not SASSA and is not linked to government. We never ask for your SASSA PIN or OTP. Always use the official SASSA website or call centre (0800 60 10 11) for your own application.
- SASSA publishes official dates every month, usually at the start of the month.
- Older persons' grants are normally paid first, then disability, then child and other grants.
- SRD R350 payments follow a separate schedule once your month is approved.
The usual monthly order
SASSA staggers payments over the first working days of the month to reduce queues. The usual order is:
- Older persons' grants (and linked grants) first
- Disability grants (and linked grants) next
- Children's grants (child support, foster care, care dependency) after that
- SRD grants paid later, on the date shown in your status check
Where to confirm this month's dates
Always confirm on SASSA's official website or social media pages. Dates move when public holidays fall early in the month. Money stays in your account once paid, so you don't need to withdraw it on the first day.
Budgeting on grant income
If your grant runs out before month-end, a budget and a small savings buffer are safer than borrowing. If you do borrow, make sure the repayment leaves enough for food and transport — use our affordability calculator first.
Why hasn't my grant reflected yet?
Banks can take up to a working day to show payments. For SRD, check that your status shows a payment date.
Do I lose my money if I don't collect it on the day?
No. Paid money stays in your account or card until you use it.
Do payment dates change?
Yes, they shift monthly around weekends and public holidays, which is why SASSA publishes them each month.
