How to check your SASSA SRD R350 status
Last updated 2026-10-01
QuickEasyLoans is not SASSA and is not linked to government. We never ask for your SASSA PIN or OTP. Always use the official SASSA website or call centre (0800 60 10 11) for your own application.
- Check for free on the official SRD website with your ID number and the phone number you applied with.
- You receive an OTP by SMS to confirm it's you.
- Status results are shown per month — 'Approved', 'Pending' or 'Declined' with a reason.
Step by step
- Open the official site: Go to srd.sassa.gov.za and choose the application status option.
- Enter your details: Type your South African ID number and the cellphone number you used to apply.
- Confirm with the OTP: Enter the one-time PIN SASSA sends by SMS. Never share this PIN with anyone.
- Read each month: Your status is listed per month, with a payment date once approved.
What the status messages mean
Each month is assessed separately, so you can be approved one month and declined the next.
- Approved: you qualify for that month. A pay date appears once payment is scheduled.
- Pending: SASSA is still checking your details with other databases (banks, UIF, SARS, NSFAS).
- Declined: a reason is given, such as 'alternative income source identified' or 'identity verification failed'.
- Period pending: the month has not yet been reviewed.
If your status is declined
You can lodge an appeal for each declined month on the official appeals site within 90 days. See our appeal guide for the steps.
Stay safe
Checking your status is free. Anyone charging to 'speed up' or 'approve' your grant is a scammer. SASSA does not phone you to ask for your PIN or banking login.
Is the SRD status check free?
Yes. The official website, WhatsApp line and call centre are free to use.
Why does my status say pending for weeks?
SASSA verifies your income with banks and other government databases each month. Delays are common; keep your phone number active.
Can I check someone else's status?
Only if you have their ID number and access to the phone that receives the OTP. Never give your OTP to strangers.
Does being approved for SRD help me get a loan?
SRD is a temporary relief grant; most registered lenders do not count it as stable income. See our guide on borrowing on a grant before considering credit.
